CLI
@meterapp/geocode: the API in your terminal, scripts and CI. JSON on stdout, errors on stderr.
Run it
No install needed with npx; or install it globally to get the geocode command.
npx @meterapp/geocode --helpnpm install -g @meterapp/geocodeSign in
Search works without signing in. For everything else, login shows a code, opens the browser to approve it, and saves a new API key in ~/.config/geocode. On CI, set GEOCODE_API_KEY instead, or pass --api-key.
geocode logingeocode whoamiCommands
Commands are generated at runtime from the API's op catalog, so new features appear without an update. Friendly aliases cover the common ones:
npx @meterapp/geocode search "Alameda County"npx @meterapp/geocode get r396499 --detail medium > alameda.geojsonnpx @meterapp/geocode reverse 37.8 -122.27npx @meterapp/geocode children r165475npx @meterapp/geocode area "Alameda and Contra Costa counties, excluding Oakland"Any op also works by name with --field value flags, e.g. geocode list-children --id r396499, or with JSON via geocode call <op> --input '{…}' (--input - reads stdin). geocode <command> --help shows a command's options, cost and REST route.
Output and exit codes
JSON on stdout (indented in a terminal, compact in a pipe), so it composes with jq. Errors go to stderr with exit code 2 (usage), 3 (auth), 4 (quota or rate limit) or 1 (anything else).

geocode install adds the hosted MCP server to Claude Code, Codex and Cursor (--stdio for the local server, --dry-run to preview). geocode mcp runs a stdio MCP server. See MCP.
